The performance core is Intel’s most powerful CPU core ever. It’s also optimised for single-thread performance and responsiveness in compute-intensive workloads such as gaming and 3D design. The efficient core provides multithreaded performance for tasks that can run concurrently (such as image rendering), as well as efficient offloading of background tasks for modern multitasking.
Intel built Intel® Thread Director directly into the hardware to ensure that Performance and Efficient cores work seamlessly with the operating system. Intel® Thread Director guides the operating system by automatically monitoring and analysing on the fly, ensuring that the right thread is placed on the right core at the right time. And it does it all dynamically, adapting scheduling guidance to actual computing needs rather than static rules.
